social media safety with a cartoon hand using a phone

Maintaining school and student safety by encouraging safe usage of social media. It has come to our attention that recently, threats towards students and schools have been trending on social media sites. These threats are generally the result of national social media trends, and have not originated in our school district.

It is important to avoid sharing posts online that refer to school safety threats. Even if they are not credible threats, they can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety for our students, families, and staff. We ask our families to monitor their children’s social media activity and speak with them about proper behavior online.

Please know that student safety is always our top priority.  If you or your student are aware of any behavior that could compromise their safety or the safety of others, please report it to a school administrator.  To view the policies and process for reporting harassment, bullying and discrimination, visit www.lisbon.k12.ny.us, under "Board of Education" and "Policies".

Please discuss these issues with your child and review our district Code of Conduct.  Working together, we can maintain a safe educational experience for all students.
