Principal's Message for the 2025-2026 School Year
August 2025
Dear Parents and Families,
I am looking forward to welcoming our students and families back to school! Hopefully, you enjoyed the beautiful North Country summer with family and friends and found time to relax and recharge.
I’m happy to share that some of our most vital family supports will again be in place this year. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to all students. The After School Program will run as usual, and our Back to School Knight will take place on Tuesday, August 26th from 5:00-7:00 pm. To help ease the back-to-school transition, the school has purchased some of the essential supplies students will need. Families will be responsible for the remaining items. Supply lists have been shared on our social media pages and are also available on our website.
I am very excited to announce that we will be rolling out a new Literacy Curriculum in grades UPK-8 in September. This means all students will be receiving a high-quality, research-based, consistent program. This program aligns with the Science of Reading movement that is bringing the foundations of literacy back into the classroom. We believe Amplify CKLA will help our students grow as readers and thinkers, preparing them for success in school and beyond.
I want to remind you all that the best way to support your students' education is to ensure that they are present and on time each day. Being in school every day, and on time, helps students stay on track and feel more confident in their learning. Routines matter, and your support makes a big difference.
As we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, we ask that parents do not enter the building on the first day of school to walk students to class. An excellent opportunity to visit your child's classroom is during our open house event on Wednesday, September 3, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. It's also important to note that guests must use the main entrance and sign in when they enter the building.
In closing, I want to express my genuine excitement for the upcoming school year and welcome back students and families. I encourage our school community to contact me at spearsa@lisbon.k12.ny.us or 315-393-4951 with any questions, concerns, or ideas to share.
Go Knights!
Addressing chronic absence and tardies is a key component of improving graduation rates, increasing academic achievement and giving young people the best chance at success in their adult life.
