Lisbon Central School Universal Pre-Kindergarten, JK & Kindergarten Sign Ups
Lisbon Central School is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year for universal pre-kindergarten (UPK), junior kindergarten (JK) and kindergarten children residing in the district.
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK):
Children who turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2023 are eligible for universal pre-kindergarten. Transportation to and from school will be provided for children that are 4 years old. Parents will need to make transportation arrangements for their child if they are 3 years old until their 4th birthday. We currently run a morning session and an afternoon session: 8:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Breakfast is served to the a.m. group and lunch is served to the p.m. group.
Junior Kindergarten (JK) or Kindergarten:
Children who turn five years old on or before December 1, 2023 are eligible to participate in junior kindergarten or kindergarten. Our junior kindergarten is a full-day program designed to give students an additional year of academic, social, and emotional growth before heading to kindergarten. The curriculum is a blended pre-kindergarten and kindergarten curriculum that allows time to focus on controlling impulses, finding multiple ways to solve problems, learning to follow multi-step problems and allowing time to learn through inquiry.
Students in our district currently enrolled in our pre-kindergarten program are screened throughout the year and will automatically be enrolled in junior kindergarten or kindergarten. Placement will be communicated on your child’s last report card. Those not already enrolled will need to be registered and screened by the kindergarten teachers. This screening usually takes place in June.
