CHARLES H. PICKARD CHAPTER

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

I. ELIGIBILITY - To be eligible for the selection pool for National Honor Society at Lisbon Central School, candidates must have a cumulative average (not rounded) of at least an 88 at the close of the 3rd marking period.

A list of eligible students will be posted on the Advisor's door.  In addition, parents of eligible students will be notified by mail of the criteria used for selection.

II. APPLICATION - Candidates can obtain their packets of material from the Advisor.  It is the candidates responsibility to complete and return the application form, fulfill the recommendation requirement and distribute the rating sheets to six teachers that they have during the current school year.

A committee comprised of five randomly selected faculty will review the applications.  This committee will follow the group through the established National Honor Society year of 3rd marking period to 3rd marking period.

The selection committee will review the grades each marking period and at years end to evaluate the status of each member of the group.

III. NOTIFICATION - Parents and students will be notified in a timely manner that their son/daughter has been accepted and will be inducted into the National Honor Society.

IV. MAINTENANCE AND REMOVAL - Once selected, members must maintain their average at an 88.   If their average should drop below that level, a notice will be issued that a probationary period will be in effect for the duration of the marking period, which includes counseling.  If, after the next marking period, the members grade does not reach the appropriate level, their National Honor Society privileges will be suspended. Any continued drop below accepted levels will result in continued suspension of privileges. At the end of the National Honor Society year, the cumulative average MUST be an 88 or higher.

Removal for reasons other than academic grades will follow current guidelines.
