Volunteers Needed: Lisbon Beach Playground

****UPDATE FROM JULIE REXFORD: We have had some rather startling news regarding the playground for Lisbon Beach. The factory that manufactures it had a fire, and our playground was destroyed. As our result, our playground is not going to be ready to install on Saturday, the 14th.

Alison and I met tonight at the playground with Andrea, our sales rep, Mike Baldock, Dave Bishop, Natalie and Justin Richards and Mike O'Neill. We talked about the physical needs of installing the playground as well as a time frame.

We are changing the date of installation to Friday, August 17th, so we are looking for all the volunteers we can muster up. We will still be providing food and drinks for all the volunteers at that time. On Thursday afternoon, August 16th, Dave and Mike will be excavating, drilling the holes, and organizing the materials to be ready for the installation. If you would like to volunteer time that day, it would also be greatly appreciated. Andrea is coming up that day also to help with sorting materials to better facilitate the installation process the next day. Andrea says that with the prep work, 20 people should be able to install both playgrounds in a day.

I am including a list of all tools that will be needed for this, and if you have any extras you would like to bring, feel free to do so. They are laser levels, 6' Step ladders, ratchet straps, cordless drills, pry bar, crow bar, 1/2" drill bits, ratchet sets, allan wrenches, bubble level, shovels, rakes, and patio blocks.

I know this is difficult, but it is all for the kids. We will see this dream of new playgrounds become a reality.

The People's Project has generously donated funds to construct a new playground at Lisbon Beach to support the Summer Beach program, in partnership with LCS, the Town of Lisbon, and First Student. The playground installation at scheduled for AUGUST 17. We welcome volunteers for the installation, or to donate food and bottled water!
